DEAD QUIET tells a story of love and loss with their new video for “Leave the Light On,” recorded live at one of Vancouver’s OG studios, BAPTISTS Live at Rain City Recorders”>Rain City Recorders. From the lamentations of the opening piano, I’m already feeling the burning of sorrow in my chest. And as they build layers of emotive vocals and bluesy riffs on the foundation of a steady percussive heartbeat, there’s a sense of begrudging hope building in me, too. “Leave the Light On” is the final track on IV, their fourth full-length album that comes out June 9th via Artoffact Records — pre-order it here. If you’re one of those digital collectors then you can stream it on Spotify or Apple Music. DEAD QUIET is heading out for a run of shows in June so if you’re one of the lucky ones who lives in Western Canada then make sure you catch them with Mares of Thrace, dates below. Right now, remember the ones you’ve loved as you watch this live session from DEAD QUIET for “Leave the Light On.”
We wanted to do a video for this song but no concept seemed appropriate due to the sad nature of the song itself. We lost some good friends and we pay tribute to them with Leave the light On, therefore we thought the most sincere approach was to play the song live off the floor, in its purest form. It was also a chance to be able to showcase the studio we love and the amazing work Jesse Gander does at Rain City.
