We in the West are fascinated with Russia. Blame our government, blame their government—but whatever it is, we can’t get enough of Russia. And there’s so much to be fascinated by in Russian culture; the driving, the fearlessness, the dilapidated playgrounds, the drinking, the public nudity, the Adidas for every occasion. It looks like a really interesting, character-building culture to survive.
Scrolling through the r/ANormalDayInRussia thread, there are so many gems from everyday Russian life. After spending too much time one here, I’ve developed a ton of respect for how Russians deal with littering. Throw something on the street? Expect that shit thrown back in your face! New York could learn a lot from Russians.
I hope the posts I’ve chosen to share with you are a good representation of the humor, ingenuity, bravery, and boldness of your everyday Russian.
