Apparently, despite official statistics on crime from the FBI being readily available on the internet, it’s possible to argue until we’re blue in the face about who perpetrates crime in the USA. What can’t be argued is that the Land of the Free boasts one of the highest incarceration rates in the world, and that these mug shots are some of the most hilarious I have ever seen. I am in no way making light of the disgustingly high arrest and incarceration rates – I’ve seen way too many amazing bands get turned away at the border just hours before a show I’ve really been looking forward to because they’ve been arrested for minor offenses. It’s a fucking tragedy that the US treats its citizens with such mistrust and hostility and leaves so many people with criminal records. The prison industrial complex negates any claim that slavery has been abolished in the USA. I’m not drawing any conclusions about what these men have been arrested for or whether they are guilty or not – but goddamn, America, if these mug shots aren’t a wake up call that y’all need to overhaul your healthcare and education systems, I don’t know what is. That being said, I am digging the Git-R-Dun forehead tattoo.
