If there’s one thing I’ve found most satisfying about CVLT Nation readers is that you share my sick and inappropriate sense of humour. Here’s a comic artist that’s right up our weird, dark alley – Joan Cornellà. His paintings and comic strips depict the darker side of human motivation and behaviour in the most hilarious way. Whether he’s tackling murder, suicide, abortion, neglect, police brutality, greed, racism, homophobia or our obsession with social media, he does it in the best and funniest fucking way. I can’t decide which of these is my favorite – the old man who suffers full-body burns and then is adopted as someone’s new African baby; the guy who heroically breaks into a burning car wreck, only to come out with the stereo; or the guy salivating over cheesy Instagram sexy legs-and-boobs shots taken by an elderly male amputee. Some people may find his hilarious approach to human ignorance and evil offensive, but I trust that you will find it as entertaining as I do. He has a new hardcover book of her work out now, ZONZO, that you can pick up via his web shop. I’ve picked a selection of his work to share below, but there’s much more to be enjoyed on his site!
