In retrospect, I’m so happy that my mom kicked me out of the house at 14 for not giving up on hardcore punk! It forced me to move to San Francisco, which was a huge turning point in my life. One by product of me living in the Castro in 83/84 was that I got to see the San Francisco skate scene for myself. I did not know it then, but I was witnessing the birth of what the world knows now as Street Skating.
