What a treat for the end of another crazy year, a three-piece slate of excellent new releases from one of today’s best record labels is on its way! The Australian-based TELEVISED SUICIDE is bringing us three very different but equally crushing releases (one in conjunction with Seattle’s own Iron Lung Records) this December. TOTAL DEFEAT – You Can’t Win LP
Pure hardcore that explodes from the speaker and kicks you in the teeth. 13 tracks of no-nonsense rockers that feature some of the coolest guitar licks and nastiest vocals I’ve heard in 2024. All said there’s no fat to be found, just a lean mean UKHC-inspired killing machine. The notes on the package are accurate, FFO THE FLEX and POISON IDEA.
GAOLED – Bestial Hardcore LP
This co-release with Seattle’s Iron Lung Records truly lives up to its album title, this is absolutely unhinged hardcore! Mixing metallic influences with sludge and punk, this all adds up to an onslaught of nasty noise that worms into your brain and makes you feel ready to smash a wall. Everything from the guitars to the vocals is cranked up to 11, and the searing guitar solos peppered through only intensify the proceedings.
VAMPIRE/PHANTASM – Split 7”
One of the most anticipated releases of the year. First up is VAMPIRE, whose 2024 LP What Seems Forever Can Be Broken cemented them as one of the best modern bands playing the style. Here they lean into their Crass Records influenced sound with more menacing vocals and lyrics that will have you bobbing your head as you thoughtfully consider the wretched state of the world.
On the flip side PHANTASM is back with their gnarly take on D-Beat punk. With layers of speedball guitars and scorched vocals that cut like a knife, PHANTASM is crushing it. If you’re a fan of this years releases from contemporaries like TRAUMATIZER and YELLOWCAKE you’ll dig this.
