We love billionaires, right? They’re all just a little scrappier than the rest of us, all 8,061,997,219 of us who haven’t been smart enough to turn inherited wealth or connections or just a “great idea” into a billion or more dollars. But while my kids won’t inherit a lifestyle that only 0.00003% of the world’s population can afford, they will inherit a few thousand vinyl records. They’ve already told us pretty callously that these records will be sold when we’re both dead. But I know they’ll be too tired and depressed from crying to do it. Plus, lugging all those records around would suck.
SEX SCENES new single “Nothing” is what inspired this morbid train of thought. It’s all about the stuff we collect, the things we get from others, and the things we surround ourselves with that define us and bring pleasure or pain to our lives. And then we die and it’s someone else’s problem (unless you’re a billionaire’s kid). This is hardcore punk with indie thrash vibes, something to strut to and tell the world to fuck off to. Maybe also a song to introspect to. It’s off their full-length Everything Makes Me Sick that’s out May 9th through Big Neck Records — get it here. Today we’re stoked to be sharing it with you, stream it below:
“It’s about the inherent value of things vs life.” – Sarah Turbo, Vocals
“We were inspired by the stress of having to get rid of a person’s stuff when they die.” – Harry Colby, Guitarist
