Listening to the new single from Pillars of a Twisted City has me feeling like I’m a castaway riding the waves of the endless ocean expanse. That’s not a surprise, because “Subatomic Love” was recorded in the ocean waters off of Tofino, BC, in “an isolated floating studio.” So was the rest of their sophomore album, Sentinel, which comes out October 14th via Debt Offensive Records — pre-order it here. As the gothic post punk fuzz washes around me, I can feel myself being buffeted by drums and driven by bass to find my way back to shore. There’s something so uplifting about this track, even though it deals with heartbreak and longing, and I can see how it fits into an album that also delves into genres like black metal, death metal, and thrash. Don’t believe me? Listen to the other single off this record, “Winters Blood.” Right now, immerse yourself in the dreamy, desolate world of “Subatomic Love” below…
“Subatomic Love” speaks to finding a connection in an increasingly hostile world. The individual you fall in love with may not be what they seem.
