London-born Susan Janet Ballion, aka Siouxsie Sioux, has probably had more direct influence on punk fashion than anyone else. At shows in 2024, I routinely see kids who were born more than two decades after she and the Banshees started shocking society dressed, styled, and made up just like Siouxsie. She’s like Betty Boop suck her finger in a light socket and got dressed at a thrift store in the dark but everything comes together in exquisite beauty. Even more beautiful is that she created her iconic look from her own imagination, alongside a relatively small underground group of misfits. Today I want to celebrate Siouxsie’s creative spirit with a huge photo gallery—enjoy!
