We always tell ourselves, “history repeats.” So what parts of history are repeating right now? The noble parts, where humanity has stood up against tyranny and shaped a new era of right to existence? Or the parts that have ripped apart the decaying flesh of ideology and exposed the writhing maggots of violent oppression, fear, anger, and hatred? Can one exist without the other? Seattle synth project PROFIT PRISON has written their song “A Premonition” about who we stand by in dark times. How much of our stance is by choice, and how much of it is by force? With eerie melodies over driving synth beats, Profit Prison captures the swirling voices and urgent actions that I’m waking up to every morning and trying to block out of my mind in order to sleep. “A Premonition” is off their forthcoming album Dreams of a Dark Building that will arrive via Avant! Records on September 11th – pre-order it here. Right now, we’re excited to be able to share their video for “A Premonition” below.
“A Premonition” LYRICS:
A troubled dream of a dark building
And I must make my choice
Under duress, in grief, by force
And these are things that I am told
Must run their natural course
A premonition of what our lives will be
What we’ll be forced to see
Every door is locked
Sound echoes off curved walls
Their blank expressions lie beyond the reach of sight
But it’s natural to assume that things should not be so clear at night
