Imagine going about your business at the DMV or drug store when all of a sudden a faceless, all-black BDSM mermaid – carried over a woman’s shoulder – is set down in the middle of these unassuming surroundings. She is Permaid, and she is real. Permaid is living performance art, photographed and displayed on social media. Aeschleah DeMartino is the photographer and carrier, and Nicolette Mishkan is the Permaid, wearing a full bondage suit complete with a tail. They travel around shooting Permaid in various situations, and have developed a full back story for her – she is a mermaid living in Malibu with her adoptive Persian parents. She is just trying to fit in, run her errands, and go on Tinder dates like the rest of us. And she does actually go on said dates – lots of guys are looking for bondage mermaids apparently. There is a series of her on dates and after (and during) one-night stands.
