One of my favorite records from last year was PACK RAT’s Bite My Tongue EP, four tracks of endearingly snotty punk perfection. Taking cues from some of my all time favorites like DAMNED, UNDERTONES, and BUZZCOCKS and blending them all together, PACK RAT had me feeling nostalgic in all the best ways.
With that, we here at Cvlt Nation are stoked to premiere the first single “Sleepless” and its accompanying video from their upcoming LP Life’s A Trap!
“Sleepless” is as catchy as a song can get, featuring lead vocals from guitarist Bella Bebe and a chorus that reminds me of the REZILLOS sharing a dance with the VIBRATORS. If you like your punk bouncy and sweet check this out!
Life’s A Trap is released July 12th and is available now for preorder through Drunken Sailor Records.
Life’s a Trap sees the band growing still. Gone are the overdriven low budget synths of the covid era in favour of… overdriven vintage synths. A much more hifi affair than their debut LP, Life’s a Trap showcases a band with an appetite. Nervous speed and snotty sarcasm topped with his-and-her vocals and a soft spot for pop melodies. Like if a Canadian Johnny Rotten fronted Vancouver’s very own Buzzcocks. If the Briefs and the Hives had a love child that looked just a little like Jay Reatard.
