OATHBREAKER Photo Tour Diary Pt. One: Los Angeles

Los Angeles – 3.28.17

I’m told tonight’s show was the biggest of the tour thus far.  The Roxy was packed, despite it being a Tuesday night.  Openers Jaye Jayle have been on the tour since it’s beginning, and have settled in well.  Moody and atmospheric, the Louisville KY four-piece charge through a powerful set, lit only by bare light bulbs attached to their mic stands.  Denver doom outfit Khemmis staked out their own place in this diverse lineup (that had included King Woman until two days before) and powered through a 45 minute aural assault.  Oathbreaker were the crowning jewel, and the surprisingly punchy and clear sound system provided the band with the awe-inspiring sound their music deserves.  They crushed.  The audience swooned.  Vocalist Caro Tanghe lives inside these songs she sings, and her wraith-like form twisted and surged in the half-light, stage front.  I have to pinch myself because I’m so excited to be photographing this amazing band for the next four nights.
