My New Favorite Time-Waster: Bad Taxidermy

Taxidermy is one of my favorite subjects, and I’ve covered a lot of good taxidermy on this site. Immortalizing a beautiful animal that’s died of natural (non-human-related) causes is a moving and breathtaking art form. But for every artistic piece of taxidermy there are hundreds of terrible pieces – and books about them too – and I’ve found an awesome site that compiles all of the horrific bastardizations of nature on the internet, BadTaxidermy.com. I could, and no doubt will, spend hours on this site laughing (and crying a little) at the terrible things that well-meaning humans have done with animal corpses. It’s a crime that someone can get their hands on a leopard corpse and then give it googly eyes and a buck-toothed grin. No wonder animals are scared of us; not only do we hunt them down and steal their territory, but we even desecrate their dead bodies, taking away all their majesty and making them look like they’ve been banged on the head one too many times with a frying pan. So check out some of the pieces featured on BadTaxidermy.com below, and head over to the site for many, many more!
