If I had to pick a woman who’s voice and face defined the 90s that I loved, it would be Hope Sandoval. As the vocalist for Mazzy Star, she was angelic, absolutely ethereal, captivating. So Tonight That I Might See came out in 1993, and “Fade Into You” was on the soundtrack to my early teenage years. Her style was immaculate, and her presence was shy, like she didn’t want to be on stage — but her gaze is intense and confronting.
