Masks hide us from the world; they cover our most telltale sign of humanity – our face. That’s what makes them so creepy – there is nothing for us to read, no twitches of muscle or blinking of eyes to communicate what the other is truly thinking. Masks are static, but they can communicate volumes when put in the right context. Here is a collection of eerie, creepy and disturbing mask art from some great artists of our time. This gallery shows how a mask may hide one’s true intentions, but it can also reveal its own story.
