I’ve been in a lot of luxurious and sexy dark places over the past two decades, and SOFT VEIN could easily be the soundtrack for all of them! I’m listening to “Perfect Teeth” and all I can think about is sharpened canines caressed by ruby-red tongues. “Leash” is all slick synths and slapping beats like it’s coated in black latex and slipping into my eardrums. SOFT VEIN, the California-based darkwave solo project of musician Justin Chamberlain, has captured the essence of darkwave, coldwave, and industrial, and bottled them up in a crystalline sonic package that would make any Batcave-dweller ecstatic! SOFT VEIN’s new record Pressed In Glass comes out October 20th via Artoffact Records — get it here. Check it out below…
SOFT VEIN’s sound is at times urgent, visceral and dangerous; at other times, lonesome, longing and darkly romantic. Minimalist drum machines, metallic synthetic percussion, lurking synth basslines and lush synthesizer and guitar arrangements all combine to flash grainy pictures of love and lust in a dark room.
