portrayal of guilt has become one of my favorite bands recently and I listen to their Let Pain Be Your Guide at least once a week. So we feel honored that the band have shared with use some records that have not only shaped their sound but have also have had a HUGE impact on their lives! portrayal of guilt will be hitting the road on the CVLT Nation sponsored LOUDER THAN LIGHT Tour 2019 with Skeletonwitch, Soft Kill Wiegedood Martyrdöd and Devil Master and before that they have dates happening in April.
Twisted Nerve: Séance –
Post-punk influences every member of P.O.G. in some way. I came across Twisted Nerve on YouTube via In Depth Music who runs an insane YouTube channel, uploading rare post-punk and goth rock. Séance has been on repeat since. It’s a blissful dark masterpiece.
Fearless Iranians From Hell: Self-Titled EP –
What’s not to like about a band dressing up as terrorists at a time the American government was spreading fearful rhetoric about Iranians? Also from my original hometown of San Antonio, TX.
Anenzaphalia: Transmits From St. Petersbourgh –
One of the first Anenzaphalia albums I came across and one of the only live albums from anyone I like. Hypnotizing and reflects the hate, destruction and fear we live around.
Throbbing Gristle: Journey Through A Body –
I’m a huge fan of everything Genesis P-Orridge creates. This album sounds like TG shrouded in a dark veil.
MATT KING
Nine Inch Nails: Broken –
Everything about this EP is flawless, just listen.
Discordance Axis: The Inalienable Dreamless –
This is my favorite grindcore record of all time. I found out about this album among countless others from a massive hard drive full of music that I was gifted when I was 16. 17 songs in 24 minutes, perfect for my short attention span.
No Comment: Downsided –
I think I relate most to the depressed, pissed off lyrics throughout this EP. 7 minutes of non-stop ripping. One of my favorites.
Mortician: Hacked Up For Barbecue –
Brutal DM with sci-fi/horror movie samples and drum machines. Another favorite.
Pg.99 & Majority Rule: Document #12 –
My favorite material from both bands as well as my favorite split. The songwriting on this record is perfectly dark, emotional and honest. As real as it gets
