UK political punk band Bad Breeding have released their Abandonment EP out on One Little Indian Records (managed by Derek Birkett, former bassist for Flux of Pink Indians)! This is some intensely gritty anarcho-punk.
“Abandonment” is fast, raw, grinding noise punk with a heavy driving guitar. The vocals are fierce and angry. Noisy guitars all over the damn place, beats that fluctuate throughout the song. Lots of feedback. “Dehumanised” still has that fast and gritty sound, although some of the guitar lines are a bit, well, almost jovial in comparison. It’s difficult for me to describe this track because of how much the sound changes completely throughout.
My favorite song on the EP, “Psychic Copper” has a fucking killer intro. It’s about toxic masculinity and domestic abuse. “Complicit” completes Abandonment with a swirling mindfuck of varying noises, creating a strangely hypnotic effect as the album ends and you’re left with a sharply contrasting silence. This EP makes a huge impact both politically and musically.
