Meditate on the Sonic Terror of GLICE “Blood Sky”

When I think about a genre that encapsulates the universe that exists just beneath our skin, it’s always noise. For me, noise isn’t music that invokes positive emotions. It causes me to feel anxiety, confusion, sometimes fear; but it also guides me through these emotions, like a meditation that takes me far into myself to witness my spark of life. It’s the sonic embodiment of the truth that without shadow, there is no light. Right now I’m meditating on the latest release from Amsterdam duo GLICE. In its jarring sounds, I find a soothing hum to cling to as I ride out the waves of terror, disgust, discomfort, and desire that I feel emanating from it like a pulse. They’ve got a new album coming out on March 12th entitled PYREstay tuned for it here. Today we’re excited to share their single “Blood Sky,” as well as a remix by Alexander Hacke from Einstürzende Neubauten that was inspired by Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack for The Exorcist II: The Heretic. You can pick up the single on their Bandcamp, and listen to it below…
