I often think about patterns in my life, the relationships or behaviours I’ve engaged in over and over again. All unique, but all the same. Torba‘s new single “Repeat” captures the experience, frustration, and liberation of these patterns in our lives but also in our collective. With relentless electronics, producer Luigi Pianezzola (The Soft Moon) reminds us to find the differences, the cracks in the spiral, and slip through them. The mesmerizing techno of “Repeat” stops me and asks me if I’m in the middle of an old pattern or if I’ve stepped into something new. “Repeat” is off Torba’s self-titled EP out on November 24th — pre-save “Repeat” here.
The REPEAT videoclip is a claustrophobic loop that echoes the hypnotic, repetitive rhythm of the song. The narrow environment symbolizes the cyclical nature of existence, where, at times, it feels as though we’re retracing our steps, yet within these repetitions, we also encounter transformative moments that forever alter our experience. Time is only a tool to contemplate existence, and a part of moving forward often involves navigating circular paths. Every loop brings you to the same different spot. “Repeat” tries to capture this complexity.

“Repeat” Lyrics:
I have roots coming down my legs,
They tie me up till my head.
Addicted to repeat
They want me here but they know it’s not fair,
They tie me up but it’s only in my head.
