Vini Naso describes their work as “an alchemic mix of different worlds, cultures, epochs,” and I think that perfectly captures the experience of looking at his art. These pieces are what I’d imagine seeing displayed in some alien museum exhibition on “the human cultures of Earth” after we’ve been colonized and perhaps obliterated. He blends artistic expression and ceremonial objects from across human existence into stunning 3D pieces that feel familiar and otherworldly at the same time. Some of his work anthropomorphizes nature and reminds us that we’re just one cog in the massive machine that is our planet, no more (and most likely less) vital to Earth than a patch of lichen or moss. Our individual lives are precious but also part of a much bigger picture that involves billions of lives spanning hundreds of thousands of years. Each piece looks like it would take lifetimes to unpack. Spend some time with Vini Naso’s artwork right now.
