Listening to BEHOLD! THE MONOLITH, I feel like I’m washing up on some alien shore with the realization that I’ve got no one but me to depend on for survival. I’ve barely made it to the surface of a dark stoner sea and I’m clawing my way to my potential demise at the hands of wailing riffs, crushing basslines, and pulverizing percussion. The way their track “Psychlopean Dread” rises from some pitch-black sludge cavern and washes around my senses feels like I’m drowning in sweet doom.
