Enter the Terrifying Gigerian CG Universe of ERIK FERGUSON

Erik Ferguson

Do you ever wonder what will become of us centuries into the future? When the only medical treatments available to the majority of the earth’s population will be whatever experiments the elite want to run on us? It’s a dystopian view, sure, but as transhumanism gathers more momentum and man becomes ever more sure that he can outdo Nature, the future of our bodies becomes ever more strange. ERIK FERGUSON’s art puts me into this kind of contemplative nightmarish mindset because in his CG works we’re just bags of flesh to be manipulated. We’re broken down into our parts and reassembled into bags of moving flesh and bones and tubes. It’s like he’s stepped into Dr. Frankenstein’s operating theatre to perform hellish experiments on the human body to see what Giger-like creatures he can make of us. And since doctors have been A Study of Medical and Scientific Racism In America”>doing just that for centuries, believing themselves to be the actual givers and takers of our lives, is my pessimistic view of our medical future so far-fetched?
