Enter the Nightmare World of ARTURO RIVERA

There’s so many layers to life and death, and I appreciate art that explores them all. Arturo Rivera paints scenes that bring together the mind, body and spirit in a dream-like state. His paintings are weird and disjointed like the place our souls go when we let our waking hours fall away from us. They’ve got a malevolent atmosphere like a nightmare world, but the subjects don’t seem interested in wounding anyone but themselves. I could see these paintings decorating the walls of the red room in Twin Peaks. Enjoy this gallery of Rivera’s work, and if this is where you go tonight, you can blame me.

Meghan MacRae grew up in Vancouver, Canada, but spent many years living in the remote woods. Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey. She is co-founder of CVLT Nation.
