Collapsing Scenery’s new EP Acid Casual comes out tomorrow via Metropolitan Indian and Dune Altar — you can pre-order it here. Bandmates Don De Vore and Reggie Debris made many hours of recordings during the pandemic and Acid Casual is the first release built out of these recordings. These are the kinds of sounds that can only come from a band that isn’t really a band—they’re “curators of a series of planet-spanning events, expressions, exhibitions, albums, installations, journeys, adventures and parties” and they’re 100% DIY. Going into Acid Casual this is an important context, because what you encounter across these five tracks feels like much more than a purely aural experience. It’s like the soundwaves are seeping into your brain like psilocybin and taking you into a multisensory transcendental meditation where sound morphs into visuals, emotions, tastes, touches. And as the name suggests, it’s almost like psychedelics are essential to really understand the layered vision of this record. I hope you have some handy because today we’re sharing the full EP with you below!
