Even before I hit play on the new video for DODSLEIE‘s “Realm Of The Unknown,” the hairs on my arms raised up as they felt the bone-chilling soundwaves about to hit. And they were right, because this band — featuring members of Broken Cross, Integrity, Wanton Attack, and Unreal City — has created a devastatingly cold sound that feels like it’s trying to exorcise your soul from the second it begins its barrage on your senses. The vocals sound like something uttered from a corpse that’s been preserved in ice for millennia. This is unmistakably black metal, but it’s got the chug of rock ‘n roll embedded in its foundation and it almost has me dancing. I love dancing at a black metal show.
