It’s now almost comical watching the infallible structures and authorities of our global systems gasp for their last breath. They’ve got their meaty fingers digging into the windowsill, and we’re standing there ready to crush their phalanges one by one under the weight of our glimmering stiletto heels. None of us can escape the end, it’s an inevitability we’re all born into.
That’s why Sweden’s Endtime wants to remind us: we’re all just “Living Graves.” With every scathing howl and every deranged riff, Endtime takes us closer to the brink of our existence. Today we’re stoked to be sharing their awesome video for “Living Graves,” the newest single from their debut record Impending Doom, out March 4th on Heavy Psych Sounds — pre-order it here.
I’m an 80s baby with lots of badass cartoon-watching under my belt. When I first laid eyes on their masterpiece of 80s cartoon eye candy, I wondered how they’d managed to collect so much obscure footage from decades-old TV. But when the credits rolled, I saw that the whole thing is animated by the band’s bass player, Afshin “Affe” Piran. Holy shit dude, good job.
On “Living Graves,” Endtime is looking to destroy your last wisp of peace with their apocalyptic doom soundwaves. Every bash of percussion is like a nail driven into your coffin. This is not your feel-good track for the day, and if you need confirmation of that before you hit play, here’s what the band has to say about it:
Living Graves is a gentle reminder on the fact that the impending doom is imminent. It’s time to end all positive thinking and subject yourselves to negativity. It would have been the perfect soundtrack of tomorrow…if there was a tomorrow. The truth hurts and the truth is that even though the end isn’t here just yet we are all just a bunch of living graves marching towards the inevitable end…
Resistance to the end of everything is futile. But an end leads to a beginning. Step through the door and see what new possibilities lie there…
