Drift Away on the Dreamy Doom Folk of EYE ‘Dark Light’

There are some voices that just sink into your skin and travel along every fiber of your being, and the singer of Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, Jessica Ball, has one of those voices. Her new project, EYE, just released their debut album Dark Light on New Heavy Sounds — get it here! It’s a record that requires quiet contemplation in a dedicated listening session. It’s going to get into your head and fill your chest with emotion. The riffs are heavy and fuzzy, the vocals are haunting and dreamy, the percussion is languid and crushing. I feel like I’m listening to Mazzy Star playing psychedelic synth doom drone dream pop. When I tell you “Respair” gave me full body chills the entire time it played, I’m not exaggerating.
