I love it when I get tipped off on a sick artist because of some sick album art they made. That’s what happened when I saw the cover for Jesus Piece’s upcoming record …So Unknown — I was like wtf is that and who made it??? The answer to that is LAZYGAWD.
He also does a clothing line called GOUTCADAVRE© that’s reminiscent of the infamous Suicidal Tendencies shirts featuring Ric Clayton’s hand-drawn artwork.
LAZYGAWD’s artwork has a glorious precision fuzz that I love. I kind of feel like his style of airbrushing is the My Bloody Valentine of painting. It feels like it’s playing tricks on my ability to focus my eyes on any one part, giving me a sense that what I’m seeing is only the surface level. There’s a mist that’s obscuring the depth of each of these pieces, and it has me fixated on exploring every particle of paint.
