In the 80’s, I roamed the streets of SoCal with a maniacal band of Hardcore punx. Something happened around 83 -84 — we all became obsessed with Speed Metal. We wanted to blast the new Peni record just as much as we wanted to blast the new Venom album. Once I moved to the Bay Area in 1984, I was fully surrounded by the Crossover movement that was in full effect. DEATHSPELL is a young Cali band that takes me back to my youth, and I can’t stop headbanging to their demonic Riffs! Their new Upheaval of Ancient Tyrants EP is the motherfucking bomb and rocks harder than Mike Tyson’s uppercut to the gut! At certain points, I swear they sound like Despise You crossed with Slayer. I love DEATHSPELL’s cryptic point of view when it comes to songwriting. I’m beyond fucking stoked to share with y’all their new visual for “Eyes Bleeding Death” below. If the band reads this, I want them to know that they create the kind of Blackened Thrash that I fucking love!!!
