Unholy hell fucking yes — the new Heinous Rite tape entitled Rituals of Disgust is beyond GOOD — it’s slap the Pope in the grill GOOD! Every song on this affair is a death hymn that shows and proves they deserve all of the shine that they get. What really gets me hyped is the sonic atmosphere of despair that reeks off of their songs! They made it a point to sound gnarly AF but also they focused on creating these portals of audio decay for the listener to get lost in. A case in point is their song “Engulfed in Fire” — not only does this song kill but I feel the torment of the humans that created it. Music is meant to take the listener places and that’s what Heinous Rite does on this whole tape. Real talk, at times I feel as if this band weaves some Blues vibes into their songs.
