One of the things we explore here is the beauty in death. It’s not a physical beauty, at least, not for us mammals. Unlike the leaves, that turn a burnished bronze or fiery red as they die, we decompose in a much uglier way. But our energy may travel somewhere more beautiful than the place we leave our bodies. Like into one of those sunset leaves. Sculptress PAMELA IS DEAD creates death masks for the living to step into death instead of the other way around. Her plaster work celebrates pallor and decay, mold and dried blood, disease and mourning. Her creatures are draped in lace and sorrow, dried flowers left to fade on a resting place, empty shells collecting around them and barnacles growing on their unattended surface.
