ONE: GELD Perfect Texture LP
Unholy AWESOMENESS this is going to be one of my favorite D-Beat records of 2018 or maybe I should say one of my favorite D-Beat records of the past 5 years. This band injects massive amounts of new energy and excitement into this genre. I can’t get enough on this LP because the song writing is so out of the box!!!
TWO: SECT MARK Worship
One of the keys of my conversation with Johnny P. from SECT MARK lies in his slight Roman inflection, which unfortunately I cannot render by typing on my computer – and even less by typing in English. Yet the very essential thing you need to better enjoy this chat is just a click away from you: in fact, here you can listen to his band’s new MLP, Worship, and let it whip your brain for the next few minutes.
This is just the second proper release from Sect Mark, but the personality of the band already sounds strong and well-defined. After all, its members come from a number of interesting projects, such as Metro Crowd, Education and Lexicon Devils. The first surfacing of SM on the market dates back to 2016, with a grinding 10 minutes EP eloquently titled Demo. This work, that you can check out here, gives you exactly what the title and the artwork promise: straight-to-the-point raw songs, with a sound that feels more or less like sand paper on your eardrums.
THREE: ATRAMENT Scum Sect
I can hear the rotting sounds of death! I can hear the grim sounds of war! I can hear the total destruction of all humankind! These are just some of the grim visions I have as I listen to dense wall of DEATH-INFUSED D-BEAT that goes by the name of ATRAMENT.
FOUR: PISS BLOOD S/T
The comparison between Fevered Dreams of Delirium and the new self-titled is certainly interesting. Then a quintet, their early work tackled lyrical topics centered around decadence and perversion by way of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s works. This new record, however, seems more like a nihilistic Scorched Earth Policy. Song titles like “Smashed Knees,” Decimate/Crucify,” and “Acid Burn” undoubtedly create that energy.
FIVE: 偏執症者 (Paranoid) Heavy Mental Fuck-Up!
Are you fucking ready for some RAW WILD VICIOUS METAL INJECTED D-BEAT? Then you are going to fiend for the new release from 偏執症者 (Paranoid).
SIX: EROSION Maximum Suffering
Erosion’s riffs are sinister, frenetic and surprisingly melodic. “Deep in Hell” and “Scorched Earth” recall everything from High on Fire to Thantifaxath. For a fairly straightforward record, there is enough variety in the riffs to keep the listener guessing
SEVEN:SUNSHINE WARD Nuclear Ambitions
My personal favorite in RAW punk are the Americans from SUNSHINE WARD. On their new 12 “NUCLEAR AMBITIONS, the band from Boston give it all and are entranced with dark, yet danceable, Punk songs. Somewhere between British 80s Hardcore Punk and noisy elements, the Boston Punks line up in an uncomfortable way. Although the sound production is quite “clear”, you could maintain the disgusting touch of the last few discs. The melodies are terrific and the echoing vocals are powerful enough to give birth to authentic, disgusting and, above all, frustrated sounds.

EIGHT: RAW PEACE Total Death
In the beginning, there was Larm. At least in Europe and according to Raw Peace, Larm were pretty much responsible for starting it all. In this case, all, is a truly politicized punk scene, something that Raw Peace are definitely part of, even if they’re not the type of guys to be pissed off all the time. You wouldn’t know it, listening to their first LP: Total Death.
They sound angry, crazy and full on honest, which is even more important. Taking their pedigree of members of Reproach, Blind To Faith and Agathocles and their positioning somewhere between Scandicrust, Japcore (G.I.S.M.) and new hardcore, you’re in for a true punk boner drenched in mad blasts of reverb. Particularly after reading our interview.
NINE: Foza Común “Kobra”
Sick as FUCK RAW PUNK from the LBC!
TEN: Destripados Gutless
Rising from the smoky skies of Portland, Oregon, comes Rippled, the last sonic crusade in defense of life on planet earth. The terrifying d-beat quartet breaks the ears and sends the authorities running for their lives while their appearance of morality fades away under the auditory oblivion. The titles of the songs are so literal, that they can not be confused even with the indecipherable echoes of the bellow under the attack of distorted cacophony. Fast, furious and implacable, they rhetorically destroy regressive politics and warmongering bastards. With several references to past genocides and oligarchic tendencies, their position on world events and the future of humanity is no secret.
