Today we present to you the video premiere of “Caved In,” the newest track off Mad Trapper’s upcoming full-length, Dead Living. The video, directed by Tyler Long of Black Mask, depicts this Toronto quartet headbanging to slow grooves in its opening, while thrashing to hardcore spasms at its midsection. The trifecta of vocals pummels like converging storm fronts, quaking with the smattering strings and percussion. “Caved In” is not of the as vicious or brilliantly incessant as “1/3,” also from Dead Living, but separates itself by demonstrating Mad Trapper’s ability to convey their wrath across varying tempos, with the latter track’s snarling grind outpacing, but not outweighing “Caved In” languishing, book-ending sludge. Both results are, however, equally face-melting.
Mad Trapper’s Dead Living will be digitally available June 29 from Sorrow Carrier Records. Vinyl release forthcoming.
