Social media has turned me on to an overwhelming amount of amazing artwork, too much for me to catalog or keep track of in my feed. Specifically, I find myself with a vast number of tattoo artists I respect and admire, but I can’t seem to keep track of them. So I’m going to start sorting through those that inspire me the most, and post a weekly tattoo spotlight on CVLT Nation. We all have those dreams of what we would do with frivolous amounts of money should we ever come across them, and besides massive amounts of charitable works (of course ), one thing I would definitely do is travel around the world and get an amazing, one of a kind tattoo in each city I visit. Or maybe a couple, because Russia – and specifically Moscow – would be a very difficult place to narrow it down to just one amazing artist. I think I’ve found the first I would visit, though; at Fox Box Tattoo I would visit Zema Zima, who creates some of the most masterful black work I have seen thus far. Personally, when I saw the back piece directly below I was speechless, and kind of in love. Zema Zima creates such texture and detail using only black ink that her pieces have the impact of full color work, if not more of an impact because of the simplicity of the palette. Her artwork is stunning and devastatingly dark, and her subjects are varied and unique. You can follow her on Instagram at @zema_zima and check out a selection of her pieces below.
