After two years of demos, splits, and tearing up basements on the West Coast, Sacramento’s COCKRING is throwing down yet again with a 2 song EP as a preview for their upcoming full length Altar Call, to be released later this year, keeping it true to form and clocking in at just over three total minutes of mid-tempo, rabid vitriol. Taking cues from veterans and contemporaries alike, the four piece channels CEREMONY, THE RIVAL MOB, and ULTRAS into a frantic concoction perfect for the pissed-off. Promo 2024 comes on the heels of last year’s split with FASTCASE and marks a punch up in precision and production value alike, adding to their already fabled path.
After riffing together during COVID, the band was born out of its members experience and resistance to religious extremism while growing up queer in evangelical communities. Finding hardcore was the first step to deprogramming from that nonsense and all of their music is written from the antithetical perspective to it. Admittedly inspired by what came before them, they seek to create the same sonic template that got them into punk and hardcore in the first place with expert success. Grab the EP here and be sure to follow them for the next round.
