Not everyone’s journey into punk and metal is the same. Before I really got into heavier genres of music, I spent many years wandering through the decades of classic rock that emerged form the 60s, 70s, and 80s. This was the music I heard as a little kid, and as a teenager I couldn’t believe that people in the 60s and 70s could spend $5 to go to a weekend-long festival with an insane lineup. At the same time, I got into grunge and alternative rock, so my Columbia House CD orders would be an eclectic mix of Jane’s Addiction, The Doors, Smashing Pumpkins, Blind Melon, Nirvana, The Specials, The Wailers, The Clash, and Led Zeppelin. My classic rock tastes introduced me to Black Sabbath and Motörhead, and the rest is history.
