If you’re in the mood for some shadowy synths, thumping beats, and woeful vocals, then you need to hear the new record from CASKET CASSETTE entitled Losses! It came out in April this year, and it’s got some of the most enthralling darkwave tones I’ve heard in a while. I love me some cold 80s Batcave vibes and Casket Cassette serves that and more. The way “BLAST” comes in like a racing heartbeat and shimmering melodies has me feeling like this is probably my favorite darkwave record of the past few years. “Window (Feat. Gossip Cult)” leaves me no option but to dance and get lost in the interplay of the dark and dreamy vocals. “Spine (Feat. Carrellee)” feels like it’s weaving a twinkling fog around and through me. “Inside the Sphere” hits my eardrums with an urgency. Closer, “Losses,” wraps up this perfect record by tugging at my emotions, leaving me wondering whether I’ve sunk into my sadness or been lifted out of despair. Check out Casket Cassette’s Losses here and stay tuned for tour dates here.
