While I don’t cover much “light” industrial, I’m amazed by the unfathomable depths that CARDINAL NOIRE has traveled to in raising up their dark industrial sound on their new record Vitriol! The seething vocals plunge into the tarry, slick beats, and the dissonant synths create an atmosphere of angelic horror. At some points on “Killshelter,” it feels like this Finnish duo have woven fiery blast beats into a pitch-black EBM tapestry. “Gun Metal” is cold and heavy, sonics pressed to my temple daring me not to move. Sometimes CARDINAL NOIRE brings in more dark 80s post-punk energy and other times it pummels me with razor-sharp 90s industrial, and both influences merge seamlessly on Vitriol. Vitriol comes out via Artoffact Records on December 6th — get it here. Right now, listen to our full album premiere:
