If Black Metal could draw, its artwork would look like MFAXII. Intricate, detailed, and full of frantic movement; but also controlled, cold, and with a promise of your immanent demise. MFAXII’s pen and ink illustrations have graced black metal, death metal, and doom records, and they’ve also been on Paris runways. This is a world of dragon fire and icy winds, supernatural creatures and metal-clad humans, wind-swept landscapes and pitch-black skies. There’s symbolism of the ancients and of the modern imagination, and it all comes together into stunning imagery that captivates my mind. Death dances on sigils of eternity and rides into battle, grim and grinning skulls ready to collect the spoils of war. Check out some of MFAXII’s work below and commission their work here.
