If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. What many die-hard genre fans crave is more of a good thing and that’s exactly what we’ve been given by a brand new outfit from Borloo, Australia by the trenchant name LIFE CULT. The perfectly executed 4-track EP by the same name hearkens back to the initial wave of gothic rock a la Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim. There’s nothing outlandish or attention-starved about the musicality, just straight-forward thumping, dirges about ghosts, longing, death, you get the drift. If there’s anything you were wanting to add to your playlist for your next candlelit dinner date with the spooky spouse of your dreams, here it is. The EP dropped October 16th but stay tuned for more from these savage serenaders.
