A Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik Giant: Watch The Insane True Story of Andre 3000

Two dope boys on a Cadillac: Andre 3000 and Big Boi in the early days.

I’m a whole lot of things and I have lived in a whole lot of places! At 8, my mom shipped me off to Savannah, GA, to live with my father. I lived in Frazier Home Projects and went to Gaston Elementary — the same school and projects Big Boi of Outkast went to. Fast forward to the 1995 Source Awards in NYC at the Madison Square Garden. I had no ticket, but being me, I found my way in — actually I got Onyx’s seats (that is a story in itself). This is the night that Suge called out Puffy and the whole East Coast, which was a trip. What also happened was that Outkast won the Best New Artist award, and when they got up to accept it, the crowd booed them. Andre told the crowd that “the South had something to say,” and from my point of view, this is when the South took over Hip Hop! Outkast went on to change the genre on so many levels. Check out this epic documentary about one of the greatest MCs ever, Andre 3Stacks or Andre 3000. He was so right when he said that the South had something to say, and we are all still listening!
