Yo, Deluxxe’s new album If You Were Me which is out now on Avant! Records is one of the raddest Post Punk releases of 2023. From the very first song, “Waiting on a Sign,” you will realize that you are listening to one of your new favorite bands. Imagine if the Chameleons and Echo and the Bunnymen had a sonic love child, the outcome just might sound like Deluxxe. This band is capable of creating songs that take you out of the mad world we are living in and take you to a place where hope for humankind still exists! The vocalist sings with earnest passion that is truly infectious and moving. On songs like “Moving ON,” they create this soaring sonic atmosphere that makes me stoked that this band exists! Deluxxe is able to write songs that pay homage to the past while injecting their creative spirit with the energy of NOW! I want the band to know that I appreciate them for coming up with one of my favorite post-punk records of the year. I’m way more than just impressed with If You Were Me. If I had to describe this band’s sound in just one word, it would be LUSH!
