Step Into the Pitch-Black Experimental Electronics of POLLDARIER “Myself”

Why aren’t we taught as kids that our hardest struggles will be with ourselves? Why don’t we learn about that paranoid, primal ego of ours that’s always on the lookout for validation that we’re in danger or that we suck? That’s the idea that Dublin-based experimental producer POLLDARIER explores on his new single “Myself” — stream it on Spotify here. He’s created a grating, dystopic anthem to the times we live under the harsh, critical gaze of our worst selves and can’t ignore or shut them down. The parts of our mind that encourage us to abuse ourselves to end the self-torture, so instead of befriending ourselves, we befriend our toxic coping mechanisms like some kind of internalized Stockholm syndrome. The beats on this song are addictive even while they simulate a mental self-beating, the vocals are intense and cruel even as they remind us of our own power. Today we want to share this rad single from POLLDARIER, check it out below!

This new track and video release of the song ‘Myself’ gives a glimpse of my inner being: the struggles I have, and the times when I’m able to defeat myself. It makes an enormous difference which side wins. The essence of the song is: the hardest battles are with yourself.

The song alternates between two main themes. The first part is a drone-like experimental electronic music theme with layers of screaming and other etheric sounds, where I speak as a narrator. The second part switches to hip-hop elements with a strong and raw vocal accompaniment.
