My reality is locked within my past and there I can still hear the first time I heard Joy Division as a 15-year-old in 1984. My life was never the same, and I wish Ian was still here in the flesh but I understand he had to leave. The music he created with his mates did more than just stand the test of time, it shaped how generations of us have felt music. Joy Division is more than a band, it’s a movement that allows so many different genres to join together in unity. That’s why I’m not surprised that the Black Metal project VIDE, along with his Post Punk project EMPTY, has flipped the script and created these outstanding versions of “New Dawn Fades.” This extremely limited edition lathe cut is being released by Jems Label and can be ordered HERE. Don’t be sad, be happy that Joy Division’s legacy will never die, it just multiplies!
