Can you imagine a post-apocalyptic world where the killer cars are Priuses? I can because I just watched The Lungs‘ new video for “Hidden Hand” that we’re premiering today! They’ve envisioned a world rife with the gloried violence that’s at the foundation of almost every video game, and the way things are going these days it doesn’t feel like a far-fetched fantasy. If you think about it, the modern “post-apocalyptic” landscape is in reality just capitalism’s worst nightmare – human beings returning to a way of life that’s based on actual survival, not the egoistic, consumerism-driven way of life that’s destroying our planet and our minds and lining the pockets of 1% of the population while the remaining 7,722,000,000 of us hungrily lap up their trickling-down piss. Well, it’s punk anthems like “Hidden Hand” that make me say, “Fuck that shit!” This banger is off their upcoming album Psychic Tombs, out October 16th on Dune Altar – pre-order it here. Right now, watch this video, and then let’s support underground creatives and grow our own food and support local businesses and tell authorities to lay down and open wide.
This is a song that our ripping bass player wrote (he writes most of our fastest and most brutal riffs). Lyrically, this song is about a future post-apocalyptic world where feral tribes of humans have taken back over. While we don’t normally have a “fun” side, this video is the closest to that! Our drummer had the idea of using an 8-bit Nintendo style video to showcase the frantic and frenetic vibe of the music and to highlight the lyrical themes of the song.
