One of the most exciting things about underground music is how fluid many artists are in their expression, allowing themselves the freedom to share sounds from across genres. That’s the case with A.J. Annunziata, bassist of post-metal shoegaze band Sannhet, who’s opened the doors on his solo electronic project Annunziata, which means “the annunciation” in Italian (and is coincidentally also his last name). His first offering is the Undergod EP that dropped via Alien Body in June, with a limited run of gorgeous tapes available here. The EP blends dark ambient, experimental, and techno, with two songs featuring vocals from Kristina Esfandiari, “Undergod” and “Hem,” and the song “Oslo” using sounds recorded entirely in the Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Norway. With this collection of songs he’s created something haunting and transcendental, and today we’re really excited to share his stunning new video for the full EP. It’s created by Daniel LeMunyan and features 31 minutes of beautiful and captivating movement from dancer Tim Schumack. This is the kind of video that makes me regret not having a giant flatscreen. If you’ve got one, turn the lights off and let this audio visual trip take you somewhere else…
