From the beginning of Punk in 1977, BDSM imagery has been a part of the culture in some way. Many women in the scene found work as dommes because they found acceptance in this community. It’s easy to see the connection between the Metal scene’s love of leather and steel and the underground Leather community. I have always thought that women dressed in all leather look powerful – which is cool with me. I also dig the way that BDSM is expressed through illustration, this is why I put together some of my favorite art of the spanktastic underground.
