The sculpture of Jim Skull taps into a fascination we all have with human death, and with what lies beneath our surface. For some people, the skull signifies fear, revulsion, warning. For others, it is a powerful talisman, an object to be revered. Upon finding a human skull at age 8, Jim Skull experienced the latter, and began an artistic journey that sees him creating skull after skull out of cardboard, beautifully decorated with every material you can think of. Some are beaded, others wrapped in twine, others in multicolored plastic cording. All of them capture a different element of the mystery and majesty of death. Check out these gorgeous skulls below…
